Congratulations on your pregnancy! It never ceases to amaze us how much there is to consider when bringing a new baby into the world.
That’s why we try to take the stress out of skin care shopping by clearly stating when our natural and organic skin care products are pregnancy safe.
We also created this helpful guide to our pregnancy-safe skin care for your peace of mind.
Key points
- Some toiletries and skin care products use ingredients that are unsuitable for use during pregnancy, including Retinol and certain essential oils
- Most Green People products are safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
- We recommend our scent-free range during pregnancy as these products are designed for the most sensitive skin
Are Green People products pregnancy safe?
Yes, most Green People natural skin care products are safe for use at all stages of pregnancy and when breastfeeding. As a certified organic skin care brand, we use nature’s best ingredients and avoid harsh ingredients.
There are a small number of products that are not recommended for use during pregnancy, and these are marked on the “how to use” section of our product pages.
During pregnancy, we recommend our Scent Free collection, which many expectant mums turn to when they need to care for their skin but find scented products nauseating.
This entire collection is dermatologically tested and clinically proven to be kind to sensitive skin. It is also pregnancy safe.

Top tip: Hormonal changes mean it is normal for skin to feel more sensitive to fragrance and irritants during pregnancy. If your skin has felt more sensitive while pregnant, it is good practice to patch test beauty products before use and discontinue use if you experience any irritation.
As your safety is our priority, our scented skin care products only use essential oils at concentrations of 1.5%. Our hair care products use oils at less than 2%.

Our pregnancy-safe testing process
So that you can shop with confidence, we’re 100% up front about our testing process.
Our products must undergo a full Safety Assessment by a qualified expert who is also trained in toxicology.
One of the areas that the Safety Assessor looks at is the safety of every single ingredient in each cosmetic, particularly concerning at-risk groups, including women at all stages of pregnancy.
If the Safety Assessor has any doubts about the safety of the cosmetic product, we feature a warning note on the product page, advising those at-risk groups to avoid using it.
This warning is displayed on our products containing high concentrations of Lavender and Myrrh essential oils, such as our Alexandra Kay pure essential oil blends. It is also shown on our Age Defy+ Retinal Booster Serum, which contains Vitamin A and is, therefore, unsuitable for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
We hope this post has helped you to shop pregnancy-safe products with confidence. To build the best pregnancy-safe skin care routine for you, take our skin care finder quiz or call our friendly UK customer care team on 01403 740350.
